1. What are your current occupation and state of mind ? 請介紹下自己

I’m a product designer by day and an illustrator by night. I  use to dream about having my own little shop selling by own  little brand. I can’t say I’m there yet, but I’ve started my little  collection of illustrations and hand made goodies… you can  check out my stuff at http://www.sunnysideup.hk/ !

Being a Christian, I also hope to spread the Gospel through  my works. Many people are scared and defensive when they  hear about Christianity/God/Jesus, they think that Christians  are weird and boring and serious. I hope that through my  works, I can make Christianity more approachable and spark  an interest for people to seek more about Christianity.

2. Why do you like design? 爲何喜歡設計？

I think if a design is powerful enough, you can really change  the world. I’m not trying to change the world, but I hope that  through my designs, I can spread some good and positive  energy to world and doing my part to make the world a  better place.

3. How would you describe your style of art? 你的設計風格如何？

My art is quite raw and cute in a twisted way. I am a big fan  of masking tapes and I love to use them to patch different  elements together in my art to create a scrap book. My brain  is actually full of bits and pieces of information that I patch  together, so I just visualize what’s in my head.

My message is always positive but the colors and textures  have a hint of darkness within all the colors. I want to reflect  how the world is, it is not always perfect, not always bright  and colorful, but everything we see still has beauty in it  despite of the imperfection.

4. Where did you get your inspiration for your design? 從何得到設計靈感？

Inspiration is everywhere. I like to look at people around me, or  details that seem to be insignificant to other people- like the grass  between the cracks of the pavement. I get inspired from other art  pieces, music, movies, things happening around the world, the  Bible, basically anything that my senses can absorb. These  inspirations tends to come suddenly like a light bulb going on, so I  usually have a log-book and pen with me because you never know  when you’ll be inspired.

If I’m really researching on a specific topic or theme, I like to read  about it and transform the words into visual elements. I like to get  inspired by poetry and language, it’s beautiful how words go  together with the visual elements and adds impact to the whole  piece.

5. What cultural influences have influenced your style and subject matter? 哪些文化因素曾影響過你的設計風格和主題？

I can’t really pinpoint which cultural influences have  influenced by art. Growing up in Hong Kong, we’re  exposed to many different cultures, so I believe my  work is influenced by multi-culture. I would like to  look a bit more into Chinese culture in my future  works as I am, after all, a Chinese.

For the subject matter, the Bible has a lot of  influence on it, as it’s a book full of wise words,  advice, and beautiful poetry. It is definitely my  favorite book. I am always experimenting with  different styles, or having different themes in my  work. But the center of my themes always points to positivity.

6. Who is your favorite artist of all time and why? 你最喜歡的藝術家是？爲什麽？

My favorite artist of all time is Salvador Dali. He is an artist with not only an amazing technique, he had wild and bizarre ideas in his head and is not bound by a little box called reality. He is highly imaginative and is not afraid to show them. It’s his boldness and charisma that makes him so unique

7. What kind of design website do you often visit? 你平時喜歡去哪些設計網站？

I don’t really have specific design websites… actually I just google a lot.

8. Tell us about the design process for your picked design? How did you get the inspiration? What to express? 談談你的獲選設計？靈感來自何處？想表達什麽？

Love Our World:

This is to show and express our love to the world and Mother Nature. The world is in such a chaos and it seems to be all tangled up. But underneath the tangle and mess, you can still find beauty underneath.

To world with Love:

This is also to show our love and appreciation to the world. What’s happier than to receive a huge bouquet of balloons?

World Cup Babies:

The once every four years World Cup event is so hot that even babies from different countries are counting down to World Cup! I try to incorporate each countries significant symbols and colors to each design, and add football related baby elements to make the world cup design cuter and a bit different from the usual World Cup designs we see.

I met Iris at Design Mart @ Detour 2009. We had a nice little chat during the event and that’s how I found out!

Dookaz is a great platform for designers to transform their designs to real products. Dookaz’s aim to spread positive message goes in parallel to the objective of my works, so I hope that together, we could spread more positive energy to everyone.

Dookaz is very positive and supportive to the local designers. I can definitely see the passion in what they do!

Cute, funny, 有時想型, 但只能扮型, 親和, 或許會帶點日本的味道.

任何事物,任何時候.但相信突然爆出來的機會不高, 多數隨年月由雜誌, 展覽, 電影, 旅遊, 網站等等累積而來.

5. 哪些文化因素曾影響過你的設計風格和主題？

日本昭和時代風格, 簡約自然主義, 歐洲田園風等等.

6. 你最喜歡的藝術家是？爲什麽？

Shinzi Katoh, 其創作風格與意念簡直跟我不謀而合, 非常欣賞其設計, 永遠帶著童真, 愉快, 簡約而舒適的感覺. 並希望透過作品讓人呼吸到舒適空氣 找到悠然的快樂.

7. 你平時喜歡去哪些設計網站？

沒有特定, 但會留意何時舉辦art 有關的exhibition.

8. 談談你的獲選設計？靈感來自何處？想表達什麽？

這是一個比較柔和的手法去表達禁煙的message. 因為人所共知吸煙不但毒害自己及他人健康, 更會污染地球, 影響整個生態環境. 故此,煙表達成斷為兩半, 可換發樹林生長. 而七彩繽紛的鳥兒代表牠們重拾棲息之所, 悠然自在地飛翔, 鳥語花香的環境是人所嚮往.

小時候常唱twinkle twinkle little star, 但我們可曾真的想過”how I wonder what you are”.這個創作是我對little star的狂想, 月蝕之時, 其實正是小星星在一閃一閃的吃掉月亮. 而月球上凹凸不平的表面, 也是星星所造成…. 月球是什麼味道? 觀乎星星吃得津津有味, 裡面可能有朱古力夾心, 應該還不錯!

因為Dookaz有新鮮感, 裡面的作品多元化, 網頁宗旨正面樂觀, 希望在這裡發表作品有更多人認識.

1.  What are your current occupation and state of mind?

Born in the 80’s in Hong Kong, Media Art graduate, current position as Product and Graphic Designer, but my dream is to live in 20-21 century at Sweden suburb. With deep love for creation since very young, I like handmade cloth decorations by my own and walk a lot along SSP. Devoted myself to independently study the craftsmanship (for example: machine sewing, hand sewing, acupuncture, hand-painting and so on), development of creativity and handmade gifts for my friends, I had always been dreaming about my own fancy shop, hoping to express thoughts and happiness behind every creation to your hearts. Recently I finally launched my first handmade product homepage—-www.libbylasoup.com, and started consignment at a small store in Central.

2.  Why do you like design?

Because I think design can change one’s thought and behavior. As one person like to express and who are rich in imagination, I am easily to full my brain of ideas, and subsequently fit them in the design work.

3.  How would you describe your style of art?

Cute, funny, sometimes I wish it stylish, but only can make it seems cool, kind, perhaps with a little Japanese style.

4. Where did you get your inspiration for your design?

Anything, yes, in anytime. But I believe the opportunity of sudden blows is not high. So I guess mostly from years’ accumulation of magazines, exhibitions, movies, traveling, and websites and so on.

5.  What cultural influences have influenced your style and subject matter?

Japanese Showa Time style, Simple Naturalism, European Country style and so on.

6.  Who is your favorite artist of all time and why?

Shinzi Katoh, whose creation style and thought incredibly hold the same view with mine, I appreciate his design very much. It always brings innocent, happy, simple, and comfortable feelings, and let people breathe freely with the real joy.

7.  What kind of design website do you often visit?

No particular ones. But I do pay attention to exhibitions regarding art.

8.  Tell us about the design process for your picked design? How did you get the

inspiration? What to express?

This is quite a gentle way to express No Smoking message. As known to all, smoking do not only harm to oneself, but also to health of other people. It will even cause Earth pollution and affect the entire ecological environment. Therefore, to break the cigarette into two pieces and let the tree grow, and let the colourful birds perch their home again and soars comfortably. The beautiful environment with birds singing and flowers giving out fragrance is where people yearn for.

In childhood we often sang ‘twinkle twinkle little star’, but have we ever thought about “how I wonder what you are”? This design is my fantasy for the little star. When it comes lunar eclipse, it is actually the little stars precisely and shiningly eat the Moon. But the uneven surface of Moon is also caused by stars…..What flavour is the Moon? It seems the star is easing with gusto, possibly has the chocolate contained inside, should be also good!

Because Dookaz is fresh, with multiple artworks, and the website aims to spread positive and optimistic messages. I hope more people will get known to me through my submissions at Dookaz.

我希望藉著繽紛的色彩和簡單的造型設計，帶給觀者有輕鬆愉快和充滿自由陽光氣息的感覺。

日常的觀察和一顆童心。

莊子的道家思想和一位名叫桑貝爾的法國插畫師。

任何作品能打動我的心，它的作者就是我喜歡的藝術家。

我們的生活充滿著煩惱、痛苦、困惑、仇恨．．．，

Dannis is definitely an optimistic animal who keeps wide-open faith in life and believes in ‘Life is beautiful from laughter’. So is his belief for design. 1. What are your current occupation and state of mind?

I am an out-of-date designer eliminated by this ‘advanced’ computer world. As a ‘professional retired man’, fortunately, I am still a happy passer-by.  

2. Why do you like design?

Design is the only work I know in the world with no restriction of race, language, age, religion, gender and etc…. specially to someone like me—having a problem with writing and reading, also the optimistic animal who love day-dreaming.

3. How would you describe your style of art?

I would like to bring relaxed, happy and free feeling like sunshine to audience via vivid colors and simple composition.

4. Where did you get your inspiration for your design?

From everyday observation and an innocent heart.

5. What cultural influences have influenced your style and subject matter?

Zhuang Zi’s Taoism Thought and a French illustrator named Zabel.

6. Who is your favorite artist of all time and why?

Any work moves me, the author of which will be my favorite artist. Because he/she built a connection with my heart through the artwork, isn’t it amazing?

7. What kind of design website do you often visit?

I have no fixed design website like to go. I just let my eyes wander around like in the universe, and wander more if find anything interesting.

8. Tell us about the design process for your picked design? How did you get the inspiration? What to express?

It is from daily life. Our life is full of worry, pain, confusion and hate…but fortunately also comes along happy, laughter, satisfaction and love. So just let go of the mess, and wide open your heart for everything. Such a life with so many variations is certainly beautiful.

I knew this website accidentally from in a TV show.

10. Why choose Dookaz as the platform to publish your design?

It is simple and creative. Of course, I am glad to know there is a couple of active, passionate and sincere staff behind it. So, I do think it is a good place deserves our supports and communication. 

11. How do you comment on Dookaz.com?

Keep working. This is not so easy, but I believe it will become more smoothly day by day, reaching every corner of the Earth. Add oil, Dookaz!  

Tony是一位職業插畫師，從小就喜歡天馬行空地作畫，但長大以後真正入行後，卻發覺和幼年時的夢想不同，數碼畫板已經替代了曾經的手繪板,電腦軟件替代了畫筆和顔料，但還好，依然擁有創作的自由。

Tony盛讚Dookaz是一個很有heart的網站，因此將他的隨性創作發表在這個設計平台，這些作品不同於他平時工作中的那些，而是他從兒子的玩具中獲取靈感。

其實Dookaz除了建設網上平台外，一直都希望能開一個門市，和設計師以及顧客作更直接的接觸，這也是arkoo提到的願望，讓我們共同期待！

作為一個插畫師,感慨良多,記得初入行的時候,面對一大堆的畫筆,素材及顏料,多滿足,像個大廚…但到了今天工作上衹餘下一塊數位畫板,每天遊走在現實與虛擬之中,確實令人有點精神分裂,偶然遇上不如意的事情時,便幻想有一個UNDO鍵,可作無限次還原……多愜意!

設計風格偏向動態與靜止的溶合.對比感強.

Tony is a professional illustrator. He likes drawing freely since very young. But when he grew up and entered the industry, he found it different from his childhood dream. Digital drawing board has replaced hand drawing board and computer design software has replaced paint brushes and pigment. But fortunately, we still own design freedom.    

Tony has highly praised Dookaz as a website full of “heart”. So he chose this platform to publish his casual design. These works differ from the ones in his real work. The inspiration is from his son’s toy.

Indeed, except building the online platform, Dookaz has been planning to launch en entity store to communicate with designers and customers more directly. This is also the wish of arkoo. Let us expect together!

1. What are your current occupation and state of mind?

As an illustrator, I remember the days when I initially entered this industry, facing a big pile of paint brushes, source materials, pigment…I feel so satisfied, just as a chef……but now, there is only digital drawing board in my work, accompanying me wandering between reality and virtuality. It is kind of spiritually separated. So when I get into anything unhappy, I wonder if there could be a “UNDO” key, helping me restore for unlimited times….what a relief!

2. Why do you like design?

It is my instinct. I like thinking and drawing freely since very young.

3. How would you describe your style of art?

I prefer to combine dynamic and static with strong contrast.

4. Where did you get your inspiration for your design?

Sky and white cloud.

5. What cultural influences have influenced your style and subject matter?

Japanese culture, I like their traditional esthetics, simplicity and strong color contrast. It has affected my design style a lot.

6. Who is your favorite artist of all time and why?

SORAYAMA - his artwork style and drawing skill are God in my heart.

7. What kind of design website do you often visit?

No fixed website. Only use Google when in need.

8. Tell us about the design process for your picked design? How did you get the inspiration? What to express?

The inspiration comes from my son’s toy. I want to express the color world and child innocence, and bring some sunlight into the arduous world.

My friend introduced me.

Cheddar説話的風格很有趣,倒是與她的設計風格不甚相同,她的精選設計極富人文關懷,在國家多災多難的今日,特別打動人心。顔色的設計正好切合國旗，又選用紅色衫來表現，獨樹一幟。

地震過去一月有餘，災後重建已經展開，可就像cheddar說的，關懷並不應該僅限於這次受災的災民，而是我們周圍或遠方所有的弱勢社群。

1. 請介紹下自己

最近面臨畢業，也不知道會當學生還是去工作。所謂前路茫茫，不過如此。不過怎麼說都好，咱都會繼續當咱的同人畫家，並且努力進修（雖然大部分時間都夠懶的）。

2. 爲何喜歡設計？

當你從小美術比別人突出（不是負面的突出），你便會越畫越多，然後哪個時候，你就會發現甚麼叫構圖。有了構圖以後慢慢把圖建構出來，如果作品內的事物有其意義，便更是一大bonus，漸漸就變成經過設計而成的作品了。這是一個循環，這樣一直進步，又一直讓別人愛上你的作品，你便越有動力。要說的話就是喜歡有知己的這種感覺吧。

3. 你的設計風格如何？

沒有風格就是我的風格。我是一個空氣人，我是背景。不，其實我說說罷了。對我來說，我要的風格不是甚麼孤芳獨賞的風格，我認為追求他人的認同並無不對，所以大眾化的風格是必需的。當然，我很愛嚇人一跳，所以也不喜歡隨波逐流。我喜歡夢幻的東西，喜歡鮮艷的顏色還有濃鬱的顏色。由於我是一個同人畫家，所以也有一點動漫的風格。

4. 從何得到設計靈感？

基本上想畫就畫，想作就作。有個題目的東西，看到題目就差不多能有構圖了。不過，要是真的想不到畫甚麼的話，會去聽音樂。成品不如所想的話，會去找相關物的圖片和資料。再不行話，就停工一段時間再開工。朋友的建議也很重要，所以朋友是好物，要珍惜。

5. 哪些文化因素曾影響過你的設計風格和主題？

動漫，日本動漫對我影響很大。首先，大部份時間，我都是一個（寂寂無名的）同人畫家。更重要的是，從小就看美少女戰士或者叮噹（那時還叫叮噹，我堅持叫叮噹），家中比我大頗多的姐姐也有畫同人作品（雖然已經是小時候的事），是以我可以說是相當擅長日本動漫風格的作品，而且很是著重線條。我不會認為因為這是別國的東西而抗拒，因為那是一般人的觀點，不是我的觀點，創作這作品的是我，我就是喜歡這樣，與那種無聊的想法無關。

6. 你最喜歡的藝術家是？爲什麽？

其實我並沒有太留意甚麼藝術家，誰不知道竼高和畢加索很厲害，說來我很喜歡畢加索。畢加索前期作品很寫實很美麗，後期變得抽象，實力很強，而我喜歡強人。不過留意最多還是動漫畫家吧，我對動漫畫家並沒有太持久的興趣，他們的作品總是受出版社影響，不是一直停止連載就是為了多賺點錢而把劇情無限拖。對了，很喜歡的同人作家是台灣那邊的BK（笑）。他的風格並不全是寫實，真的是非常特別，他的人物focus很大部份在筋腱骨骼上，上色大膽，常常會配螢光色，真的很強。不知道你們把不把同人畫家算作藝術家，不過我很喜歡BK。

7. 你平時喜歡去哪些設計網站？

隨意，反正設計這東西無處不在。設計不一定是很好看的，有時只要能傳達訊息就行了，只要是在上網，或者就算在街上的甚麼廣告呀商品呀，在家裏的傢俱呀，事事皆有設計，又何用特意去哪些設計網站呢？

8. 談談你的獲選設計？靈感來自何處？想表達什麽？

嗄。其實只是想畫畫而已。只有三個顏色來突出以國旗為基本的設計，突出這是中國的事。女孩束辮子讓人有種較鄉村的感覺。其實這作品不一定是因地震而生，國內一直也有大量貧苦的同胞，而我希望反映他們的苦況。一國因有人民才會成國，人民在落淚，中國在落淚。

因為相常方便，我是一個otaku，安坐家中便能發表設計是相當可取的特點。而且方便上傳t-shirt設計的差不多就只有Dookaz吧？（其實不清楚）

方便，快捷。常常泡網的我高度讚許，因為對網民來說，更新得快能使人非常快樂。

Cheddar’s wording is very interesting, which is different from his featured design. Her emotional design with sympathy touches our hearts very easily during the suffering situation of our country. The design color matches to Chinese flag and the shirt color is exactly red, which creates the special style.   

The earthquake has passed for more than one month and the reconstruction has begun. But as what cheddar said, the caring should not only focus on victims in the quake, but the underprivileged people all around the world.

We can tell from the words that cheddar has strong personality with unique thoughts. She does not like being a follower, which is considered by Dookaz as the essential spirit for featured designers—Originality. 1.  What are your current occupation and state of mind?

Facing graduation, I have not decided between keep being a student and go for a career. When people say fuzzy future, I guess this is where I am. However, I would like to continue being a fan painter and try to pursue further education.

2.  Why do you like design?

When you perform outstanding in painting than other people (not negatively), you will paint more and more, and then you will know what is “composition”. After composition, you try to paint the whole work. It would be a great bonus if some internal meanings are included. Now, we call this “artwork”. It is a circle. In this way, you improve yourself and let people love your work, which motivates you even more. Let us say the best feeling is to have some one think the same as you.

3.  How would you describe your style of art?

My style is no style. I am nobody, just a background. Not really, I’m just saying it. To me, the style that I prefer isn’t self indulgence, getting acknowledgement from others is not incorrect, mainstream popular style is necessary. But of course, I like to surprise people and not like being a follower. I like fantasy, strong, vivid and sharp colors.  As a tung- yan illustrator, I also like comic illustrations. 

4.  Where did you get your inspiration for your design?

Whenever and whatever I like. There is a theme, there is a composition. But if I can not figure out what to paint, I will go to music. If finished artwork is not so good, I will try to find other related images and information. If this does not work again, I will stop a while before continue. Suggestions from friends are also very important, that is why we need to cherish friendships.

5.  What cultural influences have influenced your style and subject matter?

Comic, especially Japanese comic. At first, I am a fan painter (namelessly). One thing more important is that I watched Super S and Doraemon (I still prefer Ding Dang anyway), and my older sister painted a lot (although when she was very young). Hence I am quite good at painting Japanese comic works and I care about lines a lot. I will not repel Japanese things as other Chinese people. It is me who is doing the artwork and I like it to be this way, which has nothing to do with those boring thoughts.

6. Who is your favorite artist of all time and why?

The answer is: Me. (be punched for being too cocky…)

Actually, I do not pay much attention to artists. Everybody knows that Van Gogh and Picasso are awesome. I do like Picasso. Some of his previous works are very realistic and beautiful, when later his work turned into abstract. Anyway he is a strong guy, and I like him. I pay more attention to comic artists. But their works are always affected by Press and have to expand the story for commercial purpose, so I can not keep long-term interests in those works. One of my favorite fan painters is BK from Taiwan (lol). His style is not so realistic, but very special. His figures focus on muscles and bones, with bond colors and glitter effects, really amazing. I do not know if you guys treat fan painters like BK as artists, I really like him.

7. What kind of design website do you often visit?

Casually. Design is everywhere. Good design is not about beauty, but the message communicated. Websites, commercials, products, and furniture…they all include design, why special design website needed?

9. Tell us about the design process for your picked design? How did you get the

inspiration? What to express?

Actually I was just trying to paint. Three colors presenting the basic elements of Chinese flag to emphasize this is about China. Girl with a braid can bring the feel of country. This is not only about earthquake. There are a lot of poor Chinese people in Mainland and I wish to reflect their bad situations. A nation is formed by people. People are crying, China is crying.

10.  Why choose Dookaz as the platform to publish your design?

Because its convenience. I am a otaku, so to publish design by sitting at home is quite attractive to me and I guess there is only Dookaz where you can publish t-shirt design freely? (Not so sure actually)

11.  How do you comment on Dookaz.com?

Convenient and prompt. As a web surfer, I would like to give Dookaz high praise. It is very pleasant to use such a website with daily update.

我叫西餅(westcake)，因為喜歡創作，大學畢業後，現在正在一間設計學院修讀文憑課程。我愛做夢，做很多很多的夢。容易笑，容易哭，容易感動。

2. 爲何喜歡設計？

與其說我喜歡設計，倒不如說我喜歡能將自己無形的意念或感情，透過有形的媒體，傳達給其他人。

3. 你的設計風格如何？

我喜歡簡單的生活，正如我喜歡用簡單的線條構成有意思的圖像一樣。快樂的、悲傷的、感動的、憤怒的，我都希望和其他人分享。

4. 從何得到設計靈感？

其實生活中大大小小的事物都可以化為我的靈感，因為它們都能勾起我的回憶或幻想。

5. 哪些文化因素曾影響過你的設計風格和主題？

在香港這個國際大都會出世和長大，能夠接觸的文化太多了，但我偏愛簡單的生活，純真的心，所以我的風格也比較簡單樸素，主題大多環繞感人的感情。

6. 你最喜歡的藝術家是？爲什麽？

我想藝術家是有一定成就的藝術創作工作者，當中包括寫作、繪畫、攝影、表演、雕塑、音樂、書法等等。我喜歡的有水禾田、幾米、李連杰，因為從他們的作品中我感受到他們都是很率性、很純真的人。

其實我間中會用FLASH作畫，那天我好想畫一幅畫，但不知道畫什麼才好，就作了第一幅畫 ( 叫「如果要我畫一幅畫」)，畫的是我男朋友，後來覺得不夠好玩，就改了給他豬鼻子和地中海等等 (叫「You are beautiful」)，最後把它改做白色，影在黑色T-shirt上會好像粉筆在黑板上的效果。

透過Dookaz，上網便可以製作自己設計的T-shirt，真的非常方便。在特別節日或朋友生日，我也會考慮訂做一件自己設計的T-shirt，這也是很有心思和實用的禮物 (而且價錢也不算貴)。如果有一天，在街上看見有人穿著自己設計的T-shirt，那應該是一件很棒的事，因為有人認同自己的作品和有所共鳴。

真的很喜歡這個網站 如果日後擴展，可以考慮把作品印在更多不同東西上(如：外套、帽子、被鋪、窗簾、杯子、月曆、八達通套、mousepad) 大家就可以有更多選擇啊 (呵呵，會不會太誇張 :P)，總之要加油啊！

Westcake must be a very optimistic and sweet girl, who painted her boyfriend like a ugly pig, but still called as “you are beautiful”; Westcake is also definitely a sincere and kind-hearted girl, because she likes to share feelings and to live a simple life; at last, Westcake is a very sensitive girl, who likes express her invisible thoughts through visible media - such as design.

1. What are your current occupation and state of mind?

My name is westcake. I like design, so after graduation from University, I have been studying certificate course at a design college. I like dreaming, of lots of things. I am very easy to laugh, cry and be touched.

2. Why do you like design?

Instead of saying I like design, it would be better to say I like invisible ideas or feelings, and express through visible media, to convey to other people.

3. How would you describe your style of art?

I like simple life, as I like using simple lines into meaningful images. No matter happiness, sadness, touching, or anger, I want share with other people.

4. Where did you get your inspiration for your design?

In fact, all the things in life can become my inspirations, because they can raise my memories or fantasies.

5. What cultural influences have influenced your style and subject matter?

Born and growing up in such a international city like Hong Kong, you can never get enough of different cultures. But I prefer simple life and pure heart. So my style is relatively simple and plain, moving around the theme of most human feelings.

6. Who is your favorite artist of all time and why?

I think artists are art workers who own certain achievements, including writing, painting, photography, performance, sculpture, music, calligraphy and so on. I like the water Hetian, Jet Li. because from their works, I feel they are all very sincere and innocent persons.

In fact, I occasionally use FLASH for painting. One day I really felt like drawing, but did not know what to draw. So I drew the first painting as follows (it is called “If I would like to draw something”). It is about my boyfriend, but I did not feel well of it, so I amended to give him a pig nose and Mediterranean, and etc (called “You are beautiful”). At last I changed it into white design on black T-shirt, to make it like the chalk on the blackboard.

Through Dookaz, we can create our own designed T-shirts. This is really convenient, particularly during special holidays or birthdays of friends. If one day, seeing someone in the street wearing my own designed T-shirt, it should be a great thing. Because it is amazing when people agree with your thoughts and have resonance.

I really like this site In the future, maybe you can try provide printing services for printing on a lot of things (such as: Jacket, Hat, Cover, Curtain, Cup, Calendar, Octopus Card, and mouse pad) so we can have more choices ah (Oh, would it be too exaggerated: P) A word to say: Add oil ah!

雖然自稱｢很老｣，Elvis其實依然很年輕。從小喜歡設計的他，即使家人反對，卻從未放棄對設計事業的追求，通過自我進修，終於在30嵗時入行；他設計的mushian可愛、健康、樂觀、積極向上，就像他一直以來對設計的執著和熱衷；他愛神，同時又不斷要求自己進步，想著怎樣完善自己的設計。

其實當初創作mushian的時侯，靈感想作一個小朋友喜歡的人物，健康、有陽光氣息、有點遲鈍，於是採用草姑。因為它比形象較健康，又好似人一樣有不同的外表同感覺。只係當初要將它設計到同 Mario 的草姑不一樣時有點難。(因為它太深入民心，包括我自己)

可以再有很大的發展空間，因為外國都有好多類似的web，日本都有好多。只係在系統上需要再作改進。

Although he claimed himself as “old”, Elvis is actually quite young. Loving design since childhood, even opposed by his family, he never gives up the dream for Design career and finally stepped into the industry at his 30th; the “mushian” figure he designed is cute, healthy, optimistic and positive, like the way how he chasing his dreams; he loves God, and always wants to improve himself and his design.

I like clear colors, either black and white or multiple colors. Also I like single line for presentation.

I get my inspirations from many fields, mainly from people or things I meet or in daily life.

Traditional Chinese Culture, I especially like combining Western style and Eastern style together, but still trying.

I like Van Gogh most, like the hysterical style of his works. (But sometimes I think his colors are very exaggerated, lol~~)

7. Tell us about the design process for your picked design? How did you get the inspiration? What to express?

When creating “mushian”, I get the inspiration from doing a figure that children like, it should be healthy, sunshine-like, a little backward, so I tried straw mushroom. Because of the image is healthy with different appearances and feelings like human beings. But it is a little hard to differ it from the straw mushroom of Mario. (It is to familiar to the mass, including myself)

Dookaz.com seems like both local and multicultural, especially the Message of Day on the top, which impressed me very deeply and movingly. There are not too much companies wish to open their Religion Belief. It is a good thing to communicate at a place full of Christians.

Dookaz.com really has a lot of potential, as there are plenty of similar websites, like in Japan. Only the system needs to be improved.

I was thinking of everyone’s gift from God and then the idea of this design suddenly floated into my mind. Actually I want people to think about the implication behind my work before knowing what I am going to say.

The posture of the feminine figure shows that someone intends to do something special while some unique patterns spreading across the design represent one’s talent. This symbolizes everyone has the potential to strive for what they want as long as they are passionate enough.

Martin和一幫來自世界各國的朋友一起，在北京從事設計。他們都有相似的想法，想做一些有意思的東西，從他的獲選設計也的確可以看出 – 以隨意而趣緻的網絡表情，給人一種會心一笑的感覺。當然Martin都澄清，自己一定不是坏學生，上課的時候絕不會隨便偷懶，只是有些課程會讓他覺得很無聊。

Martin的設計靈感大多來自他在北京的生活，休閒時他喜歡和朋友們在酒吧一起閒聊，或者去藝術方面的博物館。最喜歡的藝術風格是歐美文化和日本動漫，喜歡的設計師則有很多很多，包括Gregory James,Blaise Coutaz,Matt Palmer,Carlo Giovani,Tan Nuyen 等等… …

平時Martin喜歡去日本T恤設計網站，而Dookaz作爲一個新網站，設立這樣一個平台，以更低的門檻讓志同道合的設計人才在此互動交流，也得到包括Martin在内的許多網友的贊許。最後，Martin也祝福Dookaz越做越好。

Martin and a group of friends from all over the world are doing design work together in Beijing. They have similar ideas, and want to do some interesting stuff. We can tell this from his design being selected - the funny faces similar to internet expressions, which gives people a sense of smiling from heart. Of course, Martin has clarified that he is definitely not bad boy during school. Only when the class is too boring, he will feel lazy and sleepy, and start making this kind of day dreaming.

Martin’s design inspirations mostly come from most his life in Beijing. In leisure time, he likes to hang out with friends, chill out at the bar and clubs, and go to the art museums. He likes the artistic style of Europe and the United States, also Japanese animation has affected him a lot. There are sorts of designers he likes, including Gregory James, Blaise Coutaz, Matt Palmer, Carlo Giovani, Tan Nuyen, and so on……

He prefers to go to Japan T-shirt design websites, and as a new website, Dookaz.com also gets a lot of designers’ praises, including Martin. 2. 爲何喜歡設計？

從小和其他小孩一樣喜歡看日本漫畫之外，自己隨手也喜歡隨意塗鴨，並習慣從生活周遭取材畫在筆記本裡，我喜歡畫畫及創作，跟很多人的初衷相同，純粹是想跟其他人分享自已的想法。

3. 你的設計風格如何？

簡潔俏皮的樸實表現方式。

4. 從何得到設計靈感？

我覺得特地去想就不叫靈感了，我喜歡從發掘生活中支微末節的趣味，有時候也從一些有趣的形狀和物體，引人啟發的事物中獲取靈感。而從中學開始，我會隨身攜帶筆記本，只要遇到有趣的事情，就趕快用筆記下點子、勾勒草圖。有時候腦袋塞住了，就會想轉移目標，做些不一樣的事，這樣靈感也許就會突然出現了哦。比較進階的工具就是看別人的作品（漫畫、動畫、戲劇、遊戲、小說等等），接下來是自己創作。

5. 哪些文化因素曾影響過你的設計風格和主題？

中、西方古老的民間傳説及神話故事。

6. 你最喜歡的藝術家是？爲什麽？

我喜歡手塚治蟲先生的作品，喜歡他所創作的漫畫人物之表情、誇張的動作，以及善良的心。

Anthony said he’s very lazy, and all of his inspirations come from the notebook he used to record ideas. But this really needs insists and willpower, as to capture everything when it happens. Anthony likes to appreciate other people’s artwork and has found a lot of good ones to learn from at Dookaz.com. Influenced by Japanese Comic, he made this simple but funny design – Fight! HKCEE students! It seems very easy, indeed you need to really look and explore into life, to do free design and make free expressions.

1. What are your current occupation and state of mind?

My name is Anthony (Mr.A). I enjoy appreciating other people’s artworks. Sometimes, I publish my own comic works in my blog. And then comes design, because I am kind of lazy…

2. Why do you like design?

I like Japanese comic like other teenagers. I also like drawing by using the daily life resources I record in my notebook. Like most people, I like drawing and designing as it can help me share my ideas.

3. How would you describe your style of art?

Simple and funny.

4. Where did you get your inspiration for your design?

I think inspiration do not come from thinking. I like the way to explore the detailed funny things from life, sometimes shapes and objects, sometimes inspirational affairs. I will bring a notebook by my side since Middle School. Whenever I run into something interesting, I will grab a pen and write the ideas or sketches down. When my brain blocked by something, I will do something else to transfer my attention and then may come along inspiration suddenly. The more advanced way is to view other people’s works (comic, animation, drama, game, novel and etc.), and then you can design by your own.

5. What cultural influences have influenced your style and subject matter?

Ancient and mysterious stories, from both East and West.

6. Who is your favorite artist of all time and why?

I like Tezuka Osamu, like the way how he doing the expressions, exaggerated actions, and kind hearts.

7. What kind of design website do you often visit?

Websites related to design and cosmetics.

8. Tell us about the design process for your picked design? How did you get the inspiration? What to express?

Featured Design: Fight! HKCEE students!

This patron saint – Rider, actually is a character from my comic blog. There is a legend that everyone is protected by a patron saint, it follows us all the time. I would like to wish all the students good luck as someone having gone through.
